Dolomite, a sedimentary rock mineral, is a common carbonate mineral that often contains calcium, magnesium, and iron. It is used in various industries, including agriculture, glass production, and construction. The process of crushing dolomite typically involves several steps, which are described below:
Mining: Dolomite is mined from quarries or mines, where it is extracted from the ground in large chunks.
Primary Crushing: The mined dolomite chunks are fed into a jaw crusher or a primary cone crusher. These crushers are designed to break the rock into smaller pieces with a maximum size of about 10-15 cm.
Secondary Crushing: The crushed dolomite is then sent to a secondary cone crusher or an impact crusher. Here, the particles are further broken down into smaller sizes, typically ranging from 1-4 cm.
Fine Crushing: The crushed dolomite is next sent to a tertiary cone crusher or a vertical shaft impact crusher (VSI), where it is further ground into finer particles, usually with a size range of 0.5-1 cm.
Screening: The crushed dolomite is then passed through vibrating screens to separate it into different particle sizes. The desired size fraction is separated and collected, while the oversized and undersized particles are returned to the crushing chamber for further processing.
Stockpiling: The crushed dolomite is stored in silos or stockpiles, where it awaits further processing or transportation to its final destination.
